Stewards of Children, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training

What is Stewards of Children?

Stewards of Children is a prevention training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is designed for organizations that serve youth and for individuals concerned about the safety of children. It is the only nationally distributed, evidence based program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors.

CPCAN's facilitator can present this training for groups in our community at the Child & Parent Center or off-site.

Classes are based on the Parenting Counts curriculum focusing on the social and emotional development of children from birth to age five. Classes teach parents important skills to raise healthy, happy children using every day situations.

Classes run in six-week sessions. Parents attending all six-week sessions receive a Certificate of Completion and a Parenting Kit - either a Life with Toddler or Life with Preschooler Kit.

Life with Toddler Kit
The Life with Toddler kit is based on research and designed for parents and caregivers of children ages one to three years. Toddlers are walking, talking bundles of energy and emotions. This interactive parenting kit will show you how young children think, feel and learn and how you can make everyday parenting moments count. Each kit includes:

  • Life with Toddler Parent Guide - Booklet with everyday parenting tips and 30 minute DVD
  • Lion hand puppet
  • My Favorite Photos photo album
  • Alphabet stacking blocks
  • The Way I Feel board book

Life with Preschooler Kit
Preschoolers learn many skills that will help them throughout their life, like taking turns, learning to share, and how to make friends. They are also learning how to handle their emotions. They can’t learn all of this on their own. These skills start at home. The kit is research-based and created with the busy parent in mind. Each kit includes:

  • Life with Preschooler Parent Guide - booklet with everyday parenting tips and 30 minute DVD
  • I’m Ready to Be Creative! Child’s apron
  • Set of rhyming puzzles
  • I Can Do It! Activity and growth chart
  • The Kissing Hand paperback book
